Data Results

The data results has two distinct display styles, first and the default is the "above and below" view where the source row is shown as Side A and the first row and the target row as Side B and is the second row. This provides a way of reviewing differences, especially character data, on a character by character basis. Where is only one row then the source or target row is shown.

Clicking this icon changes the data results display to a "side by side" view where the source and target differences are shown on a single row and for each difference the target value is shown in an added column next to the source value.

Row and Column Coloring

The sort column data is shown in a different color to the general column data and this data will always be the same for difference rows.

Where Configuring Columns there is an option to convert the data during the compare process. Additionally the converted data may only be used in the compare and the original data used in any update scripts. These converted columns will be shown in a difference color to highlight a conversion was used. Since the original data is displayed it is possible the conversion used entirely different information and the difference is not immediately apparent.

Above and Below

In the example below the columns that contain differences are marked with a small red square and each row highlighted. Then the specific difference data is also highlighted with green for source and blue for target.

Clicking the Inc column check box for either Side A or Side B will also check or uncheck the other row.

Side By Side

In side by side view a single row of data is shown and the columns that contain differences are duplicated with the left column the source data and the right the target data.

Zooming

In either display mode if you double click a cell of data a Zoom Data dialog is shown displaying the data from the source column and target column.

Search or Filter

The search function can act as a standard search for text where each row is evaluated and the next row to contain the search text is highlighted. Alternatively the filter option will hide all rows that do not contain the search text. With tables that have large row counts the filter process can take sometime.

Show Differences Only

Toggle the differences only button to hide columns that have no differences. This can be useful where a table are a large number of columns but few differences.

Selection

Within the Data Compare results list each difference type can be checked or unchecked for inclusion/exclusion from scripting and this can also be influenced by Data Compare Settings and the Within Compare results options.

Within the Data results individual rows can be checked or unchecked for inclusion/exclusion from scripting. Multiple rows can be selected and the space bar toggles the selection.

Data Results Filtering

The default is to display all records, identical plus the various differences records. By choosing one of the other tabs you can filter the display to show Only Differences, In Source or In Target rows.
